Business License Application Process

Step 1: Please contact the Planning Division at (323) 887-1200 ext.477 to determine if the requested business is located in an appropriate zoning district.  

Step 2: Submit the completed Business Tax Application to the Business License Division along with all required attachments (i.e. Fictitious Business Name Statement, Articles of Incorporation, Health Permit, Sellers Permit, State Certificates, Home Occupation Permit, etc.)

Please note: Incomplete applications will not be accepted. 

Step 3: Pay your business license fee to the Finance Department Cashier.

Step 4: If applicable the Fire Department will contact you for an inspection, or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to schedule an inspection. This inspection will require a separate fee of $112.00 prior to completion of inspection and may be paid at Finance department Cashier. (This process is subject to change).

Step 5: When all inspections are completed, you will receive your Business license in the mail.

You are now ready to do business in the City of Montebello.
